Physiatrist

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation physicians, or physiatrists, are rehabilitation specialists who combine the special intricacies of the nerves, muscles, tissues and bones to enhance healing and movement. Having our physiatrist available to those who come to MediLodge of Sterling Heights reinforces our commitment to treat the whole person. Physiatry grew out of a need for more sophisticated rehabilitation methods for soldiers returning home from World War II, and now rounds out rehabilitation programs worldwide. This entire specialty of medicine takes a whole-person approach, instead of focusing on a specific system, like many branches of medicine do. Injury could have occurred as the result of an accident, stroke, or surgery. MediLodge of Sterling Heights has a physiatrist on staff who uses a combination of medications, therapeutic exercise and activity modification to help get your body in a state of recovery and rejuvenation.
