We love it when people
visit, and boy do we ever love dreaming up new interesting
things to do. From hog calling to elegant dining, our special
events offer something for just about everyone. Here’s
a sampling of some of our favorites: |

Each summer, we host a huge outdoor party that we call “Family
A Fair.” With a different theme each year, you might
find anything from a Hawaiian luau to a Western hoedown. Try
your hand at a carnival game to see if you can win a prize,
or see what the future holds when you talk to our fortune teller.
Dance or sing along to our entertainers as you feast on carnival
food (hot dogs, pop corn, ice cream, and elephant ears). Whatever
you choose, it’s sure to be fun. And the best part is
that it’s free—it’s our way of saying “thanks” to
the community that supports our facility and residents. |

When was the last time a Pilgrim visited your house for Thanksgiving dinner?
If the answer is never, then you’ll want to check out MediLodge of Sterling
Heights’ Thanksgiving Dinner. Our residents and their families get treated
to a real Thanksgiving feast, complete with roast turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing,
and the works, including pumpkin pie. Our staff of “Pilgrims” serve
and make sure that everyone has plenty to eat—and that everyone is sleepy
enough to doze off in front of the Detroit Lions game after dinner. |

Scary? Pretty? Funny? What’s your favorite Halloween “look?” We
see it all here in our annual Halloween Costume Competition. Each year, our staff
and residents dress up for Halloween, setting new standards in creativity and
silliness. And, to up the ante a bit, our aides compete to see who can do the
best job dressing up our residents. It’s a hoot for everyone!

Mothers Day is the one day a year that we honor our mothers—usually treating
them to a brunch, breakfast in bed, or other pampering. And when your mother
is staying with us, we want to make sure her day is special, too. Each year,
we host an elegant luncheon, complete with fine linens, lovely flowers, and delicious
cuisine. Families can join their loved ones for this special event that honors
our mothers for all of the loving hard work that it requires to raise a family.
You’ll want to make sure to reserve your place so you don’t miss
it.

Do you have a secret affinity for hog calling? If so, then this is the event
for you. Our annual Farm Day lets us bring out the farmers inside each of us,
by wearing our overalls, “chewing the fat” while sitting on bales
of straw, and playing with a few farm animals that stop by for a visit.

Our residents often miss those candelight dinners with their spouse or special
friend while they’re away from home, so we thought we’d provide one
while they’re here. Our Valentine’s Day dinner provides couples a
chance to rekindle some romance while sharing a delicious meal. It’s a
lovely evening that our residents and their loved ones really enjoy. During the
dinner, we also host a special Bingo night for everyone else, so that all of
our residents have a great time, whether they’re being romanced or not! |

Each year, we commemorate Father’s Day with some fun that the men
in our building can relate to: lots of attention, entertainment, and food.
We make a fuss over the dads who live here by hosting a party, complete
with belly dancers and tasty snacks. It’s a terrific way for our
men to enjoy themselves on a day that’s devoted to making dads feel
special. |
